Vladimir Putin set to unveil 19-kilometre-long bridge linking southern Russia to Crimean peninsula annexed from Ukraine, highly symbolic project he personally championed. Known as Crimean Bridge, at nearly 12 miles it will be longest in Europe, overtaking Vasco da Gama Bridge in Lisbon.
